Ellen Taylor Kleinpeter, a resident of Colyell, La., passed away on Monday, January 22, 2024, at the age of 89. She was a lifelong member of Colyell Baptist Church. She was a branch manager at Baton Rouge Savings and Loan for over 30 years. Ellen enjoyed watching sports on TV especially the Atlanta, Braves. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Terri Lynn and Joey Averett, 3 grandchildren, Ashley Aydell, Joseph Averett (Danielle), and Jill Ballard (Hunter); 8 great-grandchildren, Macie Aydell (Tyler), Alyson Aydell, Sawyer, Tate, and Lola Ballard, Jessie, Lakelyn, and, Sarah Averett; and 1 great-great-granddaughter, Lennon Wheat. She is also survived by her brother, Erwin Taylor (Evelle), sister, Martha “Mot” Johnson; and sisters-in-law, Doris “Dot” Taylor and Mary Taylor and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband John Kleinpeter and former husband, James “Butch” Barber; parents, Ollie and Elizabeth McCallister Taylor; brothers, infant O.V., Huey Taylor (Amy), Isaiah "Bear" Taylor (Joyce), William "Billy" Taylor, Johnny "Boo" Taylor (Louise), and Roosevelt Taylor; sisters, Argilee Averett (Will), Winona Watts (Ervin), Albertine McConathy (Jay), Dorothy Jane Watts (Louellen "Lou"); and brother-in-law, Billy Johnson. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 25th from 5 pm to 8 pm and will resume on Friday, January 26th from 9 am till the funeral service at 11 am at Colyell Baptist Church 19524 Hwy 42, Livingston, La. Burial to follow in Colyell Community Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Joseph Averett, Michael Averett, Robbie Watts, OT Taylor, Jeff Johnson, and Randall Heath. Honorary pallbearer David Watts.
