A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Ed peacefully went to his resting place in Heaven on January 29, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer. Ed was born to Alton Henry Gonzales and Martha Baker Gonzales on May 25, 1950. Ed resided in St. Amant, Louisiana and retired from BASF Corporation as an instrument technician after 37 years. Ed loved to BBQ with his family and friends, attend his grandsons' ball games, as well as listen to music. He also enjoyed traveling, especially to places like the beach and Las Vegas. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 45 years, Debbie Braud Gonzales; his 4 children, Tracie Gonzales Zachary, Shane Gonzales and his wife Melissa “Missy”, Shelli Gonzales Carpenter and her husband Joseph “Wyatt”, and Jason Gonzales; 6 grandchildren that were his pride and joy, Brock and Zack Gonzales, Austin, Dylan, and Gavin Carpenter, and Maggie Zachary; sister, Sheila Gonzales; brother, Speedy Gonzales , his wife, Marla and their children; mother-in-law Lorena Braud and other family members. Ed is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Janise and Ramona; father-in-law, Anthony “ Noonun” Braud. A visitation will be held at Ourso Funeral Home of Gonzales on Friday, February 1, 2019 from 9:00 am until funeral service at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow at Hope Haven Garden of Memory Cemetery on Hwy 30 in Gonzales. Wyatt Carpenter, August Gonzales, and all of his grandchildren, Brock, Austin, Zack, Dylan, Maggie, and Gavin will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be his life-long friends, Ken Guitreau and Doug Wheat. The Gonzales family would like to give special thanks to the staff of New Century Hospice, especially Renee and Garnette for their kindness and compassion while caring for Ed in his final days.
