James Douglas Myers

James Douglas Myers, a native of Claremoore, OK and resident of Prairieville, LA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the age of 84. James honorably served in the U.S Navy and Air Force, which he retired from. He was a master cabinet maker and enjoyed sports, especially basketball. James had a deep love for animals and cared for any stray animals he met. James is survived by his daughters, Donna Horan; Darla Mickleborough, Debra Spence; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. James is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Myers; parents, Thelma Troglin and William Myers. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 22, 2018 at Ourso Funeral Home of Gonzales from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Visitation will resume on Tuesday at Community Bible Church in Gonzales from 10:00 am until funeral service time at 11:00 am. Officiated by Pastor Mike Roberston. Interment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park in Baton Rouge. In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to Alzheimer’s and Dementia Research Facilities.
