James "Jamie" Michael Rye, 59 and a resident of Gonzales, LA, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024. He was born on February 23, 1965, in Baton Rouge, LA. Jamie was a loving husband to Darla, father, grandfather, son, brother, and dear friend to many. He loved nothing more than supporting his wife, daughters, and grandchildren. He was employed by Setpoint Integrated Solutions for 35 years. He led an extraordinary career as an industrial account manager where he was recognized as a top salesman for many years. Jamie never met a stranger. In his spare time, you could find him showing his love best by cooking for those dearest to him and anyone who was in need. He participated in the Annual Jambalaya Festival cook-off for over 20 years, where he met and made long-lasting friends. Recently, he was commissioned by Sheriff Webre as a deputy for the APSO cooking team. He was an active member of the St. Theresa of Avila Church parish, where he enjoyed serving as an usher. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Darla Roth Rye; mother, Arie “Lynn” Rye; daughters, Morgan Thibodeaux (Adam), and Emily Rye (Hunter); grandchildren, Cohen, Nate, and Millie Thibodeaux and fur grandbabies, Krewe and Roux; siblings, Deborah (Debbie) Bruno, Shawnna Sheets (Damian) and William "Bill” Rye (Debra); and siblings at heart, Hollis “Mark” Smith (Rachelle) and Sonya Lanclos (Randy); brothers and sisters-in-law, Ricky Roth (Laurie) and Nelson “Snoop” Roth, Jr. (Frances); godchildren, Bowen Sheets and Hunter Roth, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Emmitt Rye, and Uncle Lamar and Aunt Ann Smith; father and mother-in-law, Nelson Roth, Sr. and Ruby Roth; uncles, Mike and Gary Smith; brother-in-law, Craig Bruno and Fur baby, Buddy. Our family would love to thank Jamie's Setpoint family for their undying support. We would also like to thank the Ascension Parish Sheriff's office, Lee Stromberg and Kevin and Savannah Veron. Services will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024 at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church. The visitation will be from 9 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 12 pm. Burial to follow at Serenity Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Mark Smith, Kirk Boudreaux, Bill Rye, Damian Sheets, Russ Babin, Ricky Roth and Doyle Philippe.
