He graduated from Eros High school and married the love of his life, Rhonda Scott, on February 27, 1965, and they were married just shy of 60 years.
Jesse had a career as a Maintenance Foreman for BREC and Trailer World in Baton Rouge.
He had a passion for his family, coaching his children and grandchildren, hunting, fishing, gardening and sports.
Jesse is survived by his loving wife, Rhonda Townsend; children, Lee Townsend and former spouse Amber, and Lyle Townsend (Nicole Townsend); grandchildren, Hannah T. Cohoon (Cody), Jacob Townsend (Carly), Joshua Townsend, Kate Townsend and Tucker Townsend; great grandchildren, Jax Robert, Emmy Cohoon and Ellie Cohoon and sister Barbara Wingate.
He is preceded in death by parents, Leroy and Eva Townsend; sisters Elaine Cascio; brothers Lee Earl Townsend and Robert Townsend.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 28th, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Ourso Funeral Home, 13533 Airline Hwy, Gonzales, LA, 70737. Funeral Mass will take place the following day, on Wednesday, January 29th, 2025, at 10:30 am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, with a committal service to follow at Hope Haven Cemetery.
