

Joanie Darby, a resident of Loxley, Alabama, entered into eternal rest and began her journey to our Lord on January 13, 2026. She was 64 years old. Joanie’s life was deeply rooted in her faith; filled with the wonders of Christ and guided by His light, she faithfully followed His path. Joanie was born on March 26, 1961, in Gulf Breeze, Florida, and was lovingly raised by her grandmother, Minnie Fowler, in Pensacola, Florida. She graduated from Woodham High School and went on to build a career as a Medical Billing Agent, serving others with diligence and care. A true lover of nature and God’s creatures, Joanie found great joy in cultivating plants, tending to small animals, and spending peaceful moments along the Gulf Coast beaches she cherished. Known for her generous spirit, she delighted in sharing her culinary creations with family and friends, always finding happiness in bringing people together.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Jeff Darby; best friend, Robyn Martin; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Joy and Johnny Gardberg, who will forever treasure her love, kindness, and unwavering faith.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick Parish in Robertsdale, Alabama, on February 6, 2026, with the Rosary beginning at 10:30 a.m., followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m. Joanie’s earthly ashes will be interred at a later date at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida.
Family and friends are invited to gather in the Parish Center following the Mass for a light meal and fellowship as they remember and celebrate Joanie’s life.
