Joanne C. Roussel, age 77, a native of Hammond, Louisiana, and resident of Gonzales, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2025. She was born on January 23, 1948, and throughout her life was a proud homemaker, devoted wife, loving mother, and adoring grandmother. Joanne’s faith and family were the cornerstones of her life. A lifelong parishioner of St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, she was deeply devoted to her spiritual community. She served with compassion in the Eucharistic Ministry, regularly bringing comfort and prayer to residents in local nursing homes, and generously volunteered her time at the church food pantry. Family was everything. She loved and adored her husband and children but above all else, Maw Maw’s heart belonged to her grandchildren. She treasured every moment spent with them, offering unconditional love, endless support, and warm wisdom that left a lasting mark on their lives. Her faith was the foundation of who she was. A devoted member of her church, she was always the first to lend a hand, bow her head in prayer, or share a word of encouragement rooted in Scripture. It didn’t matter if you were family, a friend, or a stranger—if you crossed her path, you heard about God’s love. She spoke boldly and often about her faith, never missing an opportunity to talk about Jesus and to remind others of the hope found in Him. Her legacy of faith, love, and unwavering devotion will continue to inspire all who knew her. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary Costanza; her brother, Frank Costanza; and her beloved sisters, Katie Costanza Bonura, Lou Costanza Accardo, and Marie Costanza Zaffuto. Left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband and the love of her life, Robert Roussel; her children, Kimberly St. Pierre and Chad Roussel (Cindy); her grandchildren, Peyton Roussel (Tessa), Trevor Roussel (Cheyenne), Carter Roussel (Morgan), Logan St. Pierre (Serena), and Sophia (Zane) St. Pierre; and one very special great-grandchild on the way. Family and friends are invited to attend visitation on Friday, May 30, 2025, at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, 1022 N Burnside Ave, Gonzales, Louisiana 70737, from 9:00 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. A committal service will follow at Hope Haven Garden of Memory, 604 E. Hwy 30, Gonzales, Louisiana 70737. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Logan St. Pierre, Carter Roussel, Peyton Roussel, Trevor Roussel, Harry Sherman Jr., and Scott DePaula.
