He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Sarah B. Delatte; daughter, Christi Russell Ward (Ray); son, Johnny Russell III (Alana); stepchildren, Rebecca Delatte and Tony Delatte (Jody); 10 grandchildren, Johnny Cayden Russell, Alara Christine Russell, Dylan Hanley (Jayde), Billy Mayo, Brandon Mayo, Bradley Ward, Phillip Long, Corey Long, Rochelle Long, Aletha Hill, Lindsey Gautreaux, and Megan Hoffman; and 12 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny Russell Sr. and Nell Brewer Russell, his sister, Pam Harris and stepdaughter, Julie Hill.
Services for Butch will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Ourso Funeral Home, 13533 Airline Hwy, Gonzales, La. Visitation will be from 10 am until the funeral service at 12 pm. Burial to follow in Hope Haven Cemetery, 604 East Hwy 30, Gonzales, LA.
