Kevin Armand Kernan of Gonzales, La passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2025, at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge at age 70. He was a longtime employee of Eatel and had a small grass cutting business later in life. He was an avid pool player and golfer, winning numerous trophies in local tournaments. As a golfer, he was a long-time member of Gonzales Country Club until its closure then played frequently at Santa Maria Golf Course. He enjoyed leisure activities such as board games, card games, bingo, puzzles, and darts. He was skilled at drawing and loved sketching nature scenes and local establishments. Kevin is survived by his son, Boyd Michael Kernan (girlfriend Kelly Kinler); daughter, Bandi Leigh Kernan; 2 sisters, Cheryl Kernan Fontenot, and Phyllis Kernan Giardina (Charlie); and 4 brothers, Hubert Jennings Kernan Jr (Sharon), Mark Anthony Kernan, Gordon Charles Kernan (Dawn), and Joseph Alban Kernan (Margaret). He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert Jennings Kernan Sr and Emily Ruth Andermann Kernan; brother-in-law, Stefan Joseph Fontenot and sister-in-law, Joanie Dyer Kernan. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 24, 2025, from 9 am until the funeral service at 11 am at Ourso Funeral Home 13533 Airline Hwy, Gonzales, La. He will be laid to rest at St. Theresa Catholic Church Mausoleum. The Pallbearers will be Gordon Kernan, Charlie Giardina, Seth Fontenot, Marty Haydel, Lynn Champagne, and John McGovern. In lieu of flowers the family encourages that donations be made in Kevin’s memory to a mental health or addiction recovery facility.
