Lionel Joseph “Penny” Duplessis passed away on Monday, January 17, 2022. A native and resident of St. Amant, Louisiana. Penny was born on March 17, 1934. He was a machinist and retired from DSM Copolymer and became a full-time PawPaw to not only his grands, but to all. Penny’s passion was music and after decades of playing country music in and around Ascension Parish, you could then find him jamming with friends or cooking jambalaya and gumbo in “Penny’s Blue Room”.
Survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Earline Braud Duplessis; daughters and sons in law, Sheila and Cliff Johnson and Vonda and David Hannaman; Grandchildren, Ronnie Johnson, Jessica and Jesse Rambin, Rusty and Katie Johnson, Derek Hannaman, and Matthew Hannaman; Great Grandchildren, Angele, McKenzie, Luke, Gavin, Nicholas, Lexie, Jack and Chloe; Great-Great Grandchild, Rivers Joseph.
Also survived by sisters-in law, Audrey Gautreau, Lorraine Braud, Ruth Duplessis, and Laura Duplessis.
Preceded in death by parents, Lester and Louvenia Duplessis; siblings, Gladys Millet, John “Buddy”, Joseph “JR”, Harold Duplessis, and Bobby Woodward.
Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearer will be Ancil “T-Yank” Templet.
Family and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Amant on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at 11:30AM, the visitation will begin that morning at 9:30AM.
