

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7 On Monday, September 10, 2012, Lionel passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was called home by the Lord to heaven to join our beautiful angel, Brittni Angelle. Lionel was a retired plant operator for Dupont Chemical. He was 73 years old and a resident of Gonzales. Lionel graduated from St. Amant High and Spencer College. He was very active in many things. He was a former member of Na Na Sha, a member of St. Mark Choir, Teen Life Choir at Holy Rosary, Funeral Resurrection Choir, and part-time bus driver for Ascension Parish. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Lionel was born into a musically talented family. He had natural talent for playing all types of instruments, including the saxophone, trombone, guitar, and harmonica. He sang as well. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Judith Gautreau Lambert; three children, Wendy Lambert Griffin and husband Randy, Mitch Lambert and wife Nancy, and Kristy Lambert Lambert and husband Louis; nine grandchildren, Tiffani Griffin, Kami Griffin, Landon Lambert, Lauren Lambert, Joshua Lambert, Ashley Lambert, Amber Lambert, Austin Wood, and Chris Wood and girlfriend Ambrosia; one great grandchild, Christopher Wood II; three sisters, Rita Lambert, Verly Louque, and Lee Ola Keller; and three brothers, Victor Lambert and wife Sharon, Donald Lambert and wife Cecilia, and Matthew Lambert Sr. and wife Brenda. Preceded in death by his granddaughter, Brittni Angelle Griffin; parents, Drozin and Eunice Hebert Lambert; and three brothers, Louis, Leonard, and Guy Lambert. A visitation will be held at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Thursday, September 13, 2012 from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Mark Catholic Church, conducted by Rev. Rubin Reynolds. Entombment will follow at Holy Rosary Catholic Church Mausoleum, St. Amant. Pallbearers will be Glynn Parent, Kyle Gautreau, Matt Lambert Jr., Landon Lambert, Chris Wood, and Josh Lambert.
