She was an excellent cook, gathering thousands of recipes over the years, and contributed recipes to cookbooks with women at her St. Mark Church and women's clubs at her husband's work assignments in Houston, Texas and balikpapan, Indonesia. She was a very adept crafter and loved doing macrame, counted-cross-stitch, ceramics, and many others.
