

Marguerite Carpenter, age 80, died Thursday, January 18, 2024, due to lasting complications from Mantle Cell Lymphoma. Marguerite was born on September 7, 1943 in Birmingham, Alabama. She attended the University of Alabama where she received a degree in Elementary Education, and following graduation, taught various ages of children ranging from preschool to 4th grade. Marguerite was an excellent cook and hostess and was well known for entertaining especially her tea parties. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Gonzales, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and Red Hat Society. She is survived by her daughter Michelle Finch and her husband John, of Aubrey, Texas. She also leaves behind three granddaughters, Sydney Elaine, Brooke Elizabeth, and Ellison Nicole Finch. She is preceded in death by her husband George Ralph Carpenter who was her best friend and dance partner since the age of thirteen. Funeral Services will be held at Ourso Funeral Home Chapel in Gonzales, Louisiana at 2 pm on Sunday, February 4th, with visitation from 5 pm to 8 pm on Saturday, February 3rd. Burial will take place at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham, Alabama on Tuesday, February 6th. The family requests any donations in Marguerite’s memory to go to First United Methodist Church of Gonzales or Cancer Services of Baton Rouge. Arrangements by Ourso Funeral Home of Gonzales, La.
