

A lifetime resident of Burnside, she passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, April 27, 2012. She was born November 13, 1927, the third daughter of Charles Anthony and Lillian Landry Martine. She was 84 years old and a retired social worker for LA Office of Family Services and Prevost Hospital. She is survived by five sisters, Marion Martine Roques and husband Maurice, Rose Mary Martine Coerver and husband James, Frances Martine, Clementine Martine, and Agnes Martine Schexnaydre and husband Nolte; five nephews, Charles, Rod, Peter, John, and David Roques; four nieces, Christine Roques Matassa, Marion “Dee Dee” Roques Nettles, Mary Roques Noel, and Anne Roques Bergeron; 20 great nieces and nephews; and 13 great-great nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents. A visitation will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Darrow on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 from 8:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., with Fr. Donald Blanchard celebrant. Entombment will follow in Ascension Catholic Church Mausoleum in Donaldsonville, conducted by Deacon Ed Gautreaux. She was an avid reader, artist, and gardener who loved to spend her time sharing this with others. She touched many hearts and will be sadly missed.
