Born on August 2, 1943, in Campodipietra, Italy. Mario’s early life was marked by resilience and new beginnings. From Italy, he and his twin brother Michael came to the United States of America and at the age of 13 they were adopted by the McIntosh family. Mario graduated from Lee High School and proudly served his country as a first sergeant in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.
After his military service, Mario returned to Louisiana, where he met the love of his life, Wanda Faye Floyd. They married and built a beautiful life together, welcoming two wonderful children; Henry and Tiffany McIntosh. Mario was a devoted husband, father, and family man who worked tirelessly as a pipe fitter in the industrial industry to provide for his family.
Mario’s story came full circle when, with the help of an Italian priest, he reconnected with his birth mother, Martina, and discovered he had another brother, Giovanni, and a sister, Natalia in Italy. He cherished these newfound family connections deeply.
In 2000, Mario was blessed with his first grandchild, Darby, who brought him endless joy. He loved sneaking her straw fulls of Coke, making her coffee milk, and pushing her “higher” on the swing. Known as the family clown, Mario was full of life, laughter, and spunk. His vibrant personality and warm heart left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Wanda Faye Floyd McIntosh; son, Henry McIntosh (Julie); daughter, Tiffany McIntosh; granddaughter, Darby McIntosh Carriere (Nick), sister-in-law, Nettie McIntosh, sister Natalina Venditti and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mario was preceded in death by his adoptive parents, Charles and Margaret McIntosh; his birth mother, Martina; brother, Giovanni; and his twin brother, Michael P. McIntosh.
Mario will be remembered as a proud veteran, a hard-working provider, and a man whose laughter filled every room. His spunky spirit and love for family will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
