He fought the good fight, and won the battle as he is now with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Mark Verdell Brandon was born April 30, 1953 in Brownsville Texas to the late Elizabeth Harrison and M Verdell Brandon. He passed away peacefully on November 2, 2022 surrounded by his family. Mark graduated East Ascension High School and is a LSU Alumni since December of 1978 where he proudly represented the Golden Band from Tigerland by playing the trumpet. He married the love of his life, Mary Kay Brandon in 1999. He was an avid lover of history and enjoyed participating in reenactments of the Civil War. He is a life member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. He was a Certified Safety Professional in Management Aspects and began his own fire extinguisher business, Dixie Consulting. He will be remembered for his passionate love for the Lord and his family. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Mary Kay Brandon, his children and their spouses, Adam Brandon (Bones), Crystal (Dookie) and Jon Wilkinson, Marshall and Christy Parker, and Melissa and Nathan Mayers. His 8 Grandchildren whom he loved more than the world, Jaxon (Jack Jack) and Dorian Wilkinson, Caleb (Break a Rock Boy), Jacie (Baby Girl), and Kameron (Kam Kam) Mayers, Katelyn (Golden Girl), Paisley (Pep) and Braylee (Chatterbox) Parker. His siblings and their spouses Harry and Barbara Brandon, Larry and Sue Brandon, and Beth Ellender as well as numerous nieces and nephews and his very special fur babies Jack and Jill. He is preceded in death by his parents Mee Mommy and Big Daddy and brothers in law, Mark Hanna and Steve Ellender. Pallbearers will be Adam, Marshall, Nathan, Caleb, Kameron, Jaxon and Dorian. Visitation will be Saturday, November 5th at New River Baptist Church, 45270 Hwy 429, St. Amant, starting at 8:00 am for family, then at 9:00 for friends with service at 11:00 officiated by his special friend Preacher Sonny Biggs with a reception to follow at New Song Church, 18465 Old Perkins Pl, Prairieville.
