

A native of Ascension parish and resident of New Orleans, he passed away August 30, 2011 at the age of 84. Mr. Gautreau was a graduate of Louisiana State University. He was a respected and well liked educator in Ascension Parish for many years. He held the positions of teacher, counselor, principal and superintendent of schools. He was a charter member of the Rotary Club and before moving to New Orleans, was a parishioner of St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church in Gonzales. He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Robin and Robert Veith, Aimee Gautreau and partner, Ellen Davis, Jeanine and Terry Loup; grandchildren, Rebekka, Jacob, Emma Veith, Bennett Loup, Jackson and Violet Gautreau; sisters, Ruth Mary “Sis” Bergeron, Jeanette “Netsy” Baham; former wife, Bobbie Domengeaux Bourgeois; and numerous loving nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents, Marguerite Richard and Adlar Vincent Gautreau; sister, Ella Rose Mire; and his brothers, Byron Gautreau and Philip Ray Gautreau. A visitation will be held on Friday, September 2, 2011 at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, Gonzales, from 9:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Deacon Thomas Labat.
