Mary Eva Rouyea

The Lord called me, Mary Eva Anderson Rouyea, to my heavenly home on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at the age of 85. Even though I had problems walking, my comfort corner was between my stove and sink where I cooked for Holy Rosary Community, my family or anyone that stopped in hunger. I attended Gonzales High School to the 10th grade, quit school, and got married to the love of my life, Curtis J. Rouyea Sr. I took the census in 1970 and worked at National Food Store for 2 years. I also drove a bus for Ascension Parish School for 21 years.

I raised 4 beautiful children, Linda (Gary) Cornett, Darlene (Randy) Bercegeay, Curtis Rouyea Jr. and Lane Rouyea and adopted daughter, Val (Schelly) Cummins and Geraldine Templet. My 9 grandchildren include Tanil (Koby) Thacker, Blaise (Lacy) Cornett, Cody (Jennifer) Bercegeay, Erin (Mark) Fournet, Laci (Neal) LeBlanc, Spencer (Brooke) Rouyea, Falynn Rouyea, Callie Foster and Sasha Unbehagan. 23 great grandchildren include Kade, Karson, and Kamile Thacker; Isabel, Jackson, Pippa, Elliette, Roux, Arrow, Gemmarose, and Octavia Cornett; Aiden Bercegeay, Preston and Kendall Fournet, Liam and Levi LeBlanc; Wyatt and Nash Foster; Preston, Kace Rouyea, Liam, Abel and Priscilla Grace, and a host of nieces and nephews that I love as my own.

My siblings are Otis (Michelle) Anderson, Beulah (Kenneth) Bourque, and David (Rene) Anderson. My Godchildren are Lisa Melancon, Mark Heath, and Beulah Bourque.

I was preceded in death by my husband, Curtis J. Rouyea; sisters, Shirley LeBlanc and Judy Brignac; brothers, Bentley Anderson and G. W. Anderson; parents, Clarence (Boy) Anderson and Nancy Richardson Anderson; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lucille Hebert Rouyea and Sydney Rouyea.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service at Ourso Funeral Home, 13533 Airline Hwy. Gonzales, LA 70737, on Saturday January 4, 2025. The visitation will begin at 9 AM with a service to start at 11AM. The interment will follow at Hope Haven Garden of Memory in Gonzales.
