

Melinda Marie Gutierrez, born on February 9, 1966, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 7, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. She was a native of Gonzales and a current resident of Washington, LA. Melinda was a faithful servant and a fun-loving person who danced through life. She was also a daughter, a twin, a sister, a mother, an aunt, and a great friend. Melinda will always remain in the memories of those who were touched by her kind heart, selfless spirit, adventurous nature, and love for her family. She lived an active life and enjoyed sporting events, family tailgates, live music, teaching aerobics, and her recent country life occupied with crabbing and DIY projects. Melinda cherished the extension of life that was afforded to her decades ago by her brother George through the donation of his kidney.
Melinda was blessed with and survived by her daughter Allie Amedee of Baton Rouge and fiancé Chad Jones of Washington, LA., along with sisters and brothers-in-law Conchita Richey, Emmita Templet and husband Troy, Melissa Sanchez and husband Jimmy, all of Gonzales, LA. and brothers and sisters-in-law George “Laco” Gutierrez and wife Lydia, of Gonzales, LA., Jay Gutierrez and wife Amy of San Antonio, TX., Gus Gutierrez and wife Paige of Gonzales, and her sister-in-law Kulliki Gutierrez, whose husband John is deceased.
She is preceded in death by her parents Antonio “Tony” and Emma Zavaleta Gutierrez, brother John Gutierrez, and brother-in-law Terry Richey.
Melinda’s services will be privately held at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Gonzales for family-only on Friday, February 12. Pallbearers are Ty Richey, Bryan Haydel Jr., Joseph Gutierrez, Bradley Sanchez, Gus Gutierrez II, and Madison Vick.
Her service can be viewed virtually on Facebook Live/St Theresa of Avila Church. She will be laid to rest at Hope Haven Garden of Memory Cemetery in Gonzales. Arrangements by Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales. www.oursofh.com
