Mr. Nazern J Salamoni

Nazern Joseph “NJ” Salamoni passed away on Friday, December 15, 2023 at the age of 85. He was a native of Donaldsonville, LA and a resident of Gonzales, LA. NJ received his bachelor’s degree in business from Nicholls State College in 1960. He was a Senior Life Sales Representative with CNA Life Insurance, retiring in 2002; while at CNA he constantly qualified for the CNA Chairman’s Club and until his death continued to work as an Estate and Pension Planner. His hobbies included golf, golf, and golf, not necessarily in that order. He was a talented musician, having played in a number of bands, including The Kings of Swing. He was passionate about the saxophone, clarinet, and trumpet. NJ was one of the most generous, compassionate, caring, and thoughtful men; he is truly a believer in God and has faithfully followed that path throughout his life; he was a wonderful role model for his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Marie Mueller Salamoni; daughters, Donna Stinson, Stacy Duvall (Rusty), and Michelle Smith (Jamie); sons, Noel Salamoni (Melissa) and Neil Salamoni (Sara); grandchildren, Blane Salamoni (Allison), Alexa Thornhill (Troy), Amber Stinson, John Stinson, Rachel Duvall, Carly Duvall, Allison Osborn (Logan), and Jordan Smith; great grandchildren, Beau Salamoni and Adley Salamoni. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Lena Salamoni; and sister and brother in law, Frances and Russel Westerman. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, December 18, 2023 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, beginning at 12:00 p.m. Visitation will be held prior to mass from 10:00 a.m. till 12:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Hope Haven Garden of Memory in Prairieville. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are: Noel Salamoni, Blane Salamoni, John Stinson, Rusty Duvall, Jamie Smith, and Troy Templet. Honorary pallbearer, Kurt Westerman. A special thanks goes to the ICU staff at OLOL and staff at The Carpenter House. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice and would be greatly appreciated.
