Nelson David Nunez Sr.

Nelson David Nunez, Sr. was born on August 1, 1946, entered into Eternal Life on June 13, 2022. He was surrounded by family and loved ones and departed peacefully. He was a native of St. Bernard Parish and a resident of Prairieville, LA. Nelson was a devoted husband to Janell Hughes Nunez. Father of Nelson D. Nunez, Jr., (Jennifer) and Harold Samuel Nunez, (Jamie). Grandfather of Luke Johnathan, Lara Shea, Leann Marie, Madison Catherine and Ellie Grace. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Agnes Nunez; his brother, Leon Jr., August; and sister, Agnes Licciardi. He is survived by Donald (Put) Nunez, (Jeannette); and sister-in-laws Dolores Nunez and Leona Alexander; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by many wonderful and close friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation which will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at Ourso Funeral Home, 13533 Airline Hwy., Gonzales, LA 70737 from 9:30 to 12:30 with a Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 1PM at St. John the Evangelist Church on Hwy. 73 in Prairieville. Inurnment will follow at Hope Haven Garden of Memory Cemetery behind St. John’s Church on Duplessis Street. The family would like to give a special thanks to the Trauma Neurological ICU Team at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to St. Anthony of Padua or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
