Rita Gautreau Bourgeois

GONZALES – A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Mrs. Rita Gautreau Bourgeois, age 89, at 11:00 am Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Hope Haven Cemetery in Gonzales.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Ourso Funeral Home. Visitation will resume Thursday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church starting at 9:00 am and continuing until service time at 11:00 am.

A native and resident of Gonzales, Mrs. Bourgeois passed away at 2:30 am on Tuesday, July 08, 2014 at Gonzales Healthcare Center.

Mrs. Rita was an outstanding wife, mother, grandmother and caregiver. She was very active and dedicated to her church, Holy Rosary Catholic Church, where she served on the Altar Society and was also a Eucharistic Minister. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Gonzales Healthcare Center for all of the special care they gave Mrs. Rita.

She is survived by her daughter, Juanita Fife and husband Joe; sons, Douglas Bourgeois and wife Tilly, Myron Bourgeois and wife Becky; son-in-law, Wayne Guidry; sister, Eula Bourgeois; grandchildren, Jody Fife, Chris Fife, Denny Fife, Marci Rottmann Templet, Sean Bourgeois, Halli Bourgeois Wade, Joshua Bourgeois, Kristy Bourgeois, Jalyn Bourgeois; great-grandchildren, Logan Fife, Parker Fife, Tristun Fife, Ivey Fife, Lilly Fife, Reid Templet, Rhet Templet, Kaitlyn Withers, James Bourgeois, Kaia Bourgeois, Ada Bourgeois, Lyla Bourgeois and Jules Lessard.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred “Freddie” Bourgeois; parents, Amant Gautreau and Marie Duplessis Gautreau; daughter, Gloria M. Guidry, four brothers and two sisters.

Members of the family will serve as pallbearers.
