

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Mr. Robert Paul Templet, Sr., age 71, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Friday, August 21, 2015 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be held on Thursday at Ourso Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and again on Friday morning at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church starting at 10:00 AM and continuing until service time at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Holy Rosary Mausoleum. Mr. Templet was most known for his dedication, leadership and mentorship in the Knights of Columbus. He became a 1st Degree Knight in November of 1972 and was a charter member of Father James Clement Council 6389 in Gonzales before transferring to St. John the Evangelist in Prairieville where he served as Grand Knight. During his 31 years in the Knights, he has held many leadership positions including District Deputy for both District #24 and #25. He was knighted into the Msgr. Arthur Lieux 4th Degree Assembly in June 2003 and again held many leadership positions including Faithful Comptroller, Scribe and Trustee. He was an active member of the Assembly Color Corps. Robert was Knight of the Year for St. John Council in 2014 and Sir Knight of the Year for the Msgr. Lieux Assembly in 2011. He became an Honorary Life Member in 2015. Additionally, he was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Choir and played trumpet for the Swamp Pop bands Blue Notes, The Other Side, Kollison, Kenny Cornett and Killin’ Time. Mr. Templet is survived by his wife of 50 years, Cynthia Marie Eskind Templet; daughter, Gretchen Ann Templet Blank (Wesley); sons, Brian Paul Templet (Dana), Robert Paul Templet, Jr. (Becky); sisters, Mary Deslattes (Leonard), Susan Turner (Bruce), Cynthia Langlois (Joe), Christine Mayers (Barry), Marion Cafferal (Jim), Paula Michel (Brian), Joella Woodford; brother, Cornell Templet (Barbara); grandchildren, Brandon Blank, Brett Blank (Jaclyn), Bryant Blank (Katie), Brooke Blank, Justin Templet, Taylor Templet, Hunter Templet, Kaden Lobell, Jacquelyn James, Benjamin Templet, Preston Templet and great-grandchild, Madison Blank. He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Jean Templet and sister, Gloria Templet. Brandon Blank, Brett Blank, Bryant Blank, Justin Templet, Antoine Deslattes, Corey Prettelt and Cornell Templet will serve as pallbearers. Hunter Templet, Kaden Lobell, Benjamin Templet and Preston Templet will serve as honorary pallbearers.
