

A native of Baton Rouge and resident of Prairieville, he passed away Sunday, April 22, 2012, surrounded by loving friends and family, at the age of 73. He was a Pipefitter with Local 198. He was an avid fan of LSU sports, coached women’s softball, and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play. He also enjoyed hunting and dancing. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Norma Celestin Burns; daughter, Debbie Burns; son, Roland “Bubba” Burns Jr.; sisters, Naomi Alise, Ruthie Babin, Rita Ferachi; brothers, Pat H. Burns Jr., Conrad Burns, Rudy Burns, Jeff Burns, Tommie Burns; grandchildren, Brian Burns, Brandie Himel Hornsby, Kayla Himel, Blake Burns, Paige Burns; and great grandchildren, Hallie Grace Hornsby, Maddie Clair Hornsby, Ryleigh Moore. He is preceded in death by his parents, Delores and Patrick Burns Sr.; and sister, JoAnn Sessions. Pallbearers will be Brian Burns, Tommie Burns, Rick Dunaway, Jeff Hornsby, Steve Celestin, Gerald Ferachi, Scott Cobb and Darin Stevens. Honorary pallbearers will be Conrad Burns and Pat Burns Jr. There will be a visitation at Ourso Funeral Home, Tuesday, April 24, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Visitation will resume Wednesday at the funeral home, April 25, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. with a prayer service starting at 10:15. Following the service at the funeral home, there will be a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Prairieville at 11:00 a.m. There will be a private entombment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. The family would like to give a special thanks to Cannon Hospice and Gonzales Healthcare Center.
