Scott lived a full and adventurous life. He was an avid and highly talented photographer who traveled the world capturing its beauty through his lens. A skilled shooter and dedicated competitor, Scott was deeply involved in the shooting sports community and proudly served on the Board of Directors at the Palo Alto Rifle and Pistol Club. He also loved sports and, in his younger years, was quite an accomplished athlete.
Those who knew Scott knew his love for cooking, especially classic Louisiana cuisine and his joy in sharing meals with others. Above all, he cherished spending time with his family and friends, creating memories filled with laughter, stories, and love.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita Gwin Russell; his sons, Alex Paul Russell (Scarlet) and Christopher Lynn Engelbracht (Kelly); three grandchildren, Wrenley Faye Russell, Lila Kate Engelbracht, and Christopher Quinn Engelbracht; his brother, Lanny Joseph Russell (Carolyn); his sister, Marie Russell Estopinal (Stephen); his godson and nephew, Matthew Estopinal (Erica); nieces, Tracy Estopinal Ballagh (Robert), Emily Estopinal Lowe (Brad), Coleen Russell Brooks (Randy), and Kelly Russell Nothaft (Alfred) and several great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo Abbott Russell Jr. and Marion Guidry Russell.
A visitation will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Ourso Funeral Home, 13533 Airline Highway, Gonzales, Louisiana 70737.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, January 19, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Palo Alto Rifle and Pistol Club, 1393 Highway 943, Donaldsonville, Louisiana 70346.
Scott will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
