When dad retired and he and mom were still living in Prairieville, he would come to my house every morning to pick up my dogs, T-Bear and Trixie, if I didn’t drop them off to him on my way to work. He would leave me notes and sign them from T and Trixie. I loved coming home to those sweet notes. I always shared them with my coworkers. When he found out I was letting my coworkers read them he stopped leaving them. I still have those notes.  ❤️❤️

Dad and I took one vacation with just the two of us many years ago. We went to Kentucky to see Tammy and Ryan. While we were in the general area we went to the Maker’s Mark and Jack Daniels distilleries, as well as many other touristy places. We bought collector edition bottles of Jack Daniels and dipped our own bottles of Maker’s Mark in wax. I will cherish those memories and hold on to those bottles forever.

I have many favorite stories dad told us over the years. Of course, the best part of his stories was all the little details he threw in and the animation in his voice. I will try to do a few of those stories some justice.

When he was younger he had a purple Impala. He frequently outran the police back home in Start/Rayville, LA so the police would go to his sister's (LaJuana) house and tell her "When you see Bo again tell him to come talk to us."

Dad went out one night and tried not to wake up his mom and sister (Barbara) when he got home. He went into his bedroom, took off his shirt and threw it on the back of the chair, only to hear it whoosh to the floor. Next, he took off his pants and threw them in the same direction. Once again he heard them whoosh to the floor. He thought "Hmm, I must be more drunk than I thought I was." He went over to sit on his bed and fell right onto the floor. That's when he heard Mawmaw Flint and Aunt Bob snickering. They'd gone in and rearranged the furniture in his bedroom while he was out that night.

On his way home from another night out, dad ran out of gas and had to walk home. He said it was so cold that night the wind chilled him to the bone. When he got home he couldn't wait to crawl into his warm bed. He got in bed and couldn't find his pillow. He turned on the light and discovered his pillow had been shoved in the window that was broken to block the cold wind. He said that was the night he learned he could sleep without his pillow and he even got under the mattress to stay warm.

Raelynn broke down crying several times the day of dad's memorial service and kept saying "I miss my pawpaw." I told her many times that when  she thinks of her pawpaw to smile instead of cry because he always loved to see her smile. As we were leaving the funeral home later that day I started crying. Raelynn said "Dee Dee, don't cry when you think of pawpaw. You have to smile." She tells me that she still smiles when she thinks of her pawpaw.  

I can remember only being spanked by dad once. Trust me, I definitely had it coming. I was angry that I was stuck home doing chores instead of going to a friend's house so I was beating and banging around in the kitchen, which was right beside their bedroom. He had come out of the bedroom a couple times already to ask me to be quiet because he was trying to sleep before going in to work that night. He told me later that he went back into his and mom's bedroom and cried afterward. He didn't hurt me physically, but it broke my heart because I was and always will be a daddy's girl. After that I made sure he never had to spank me again.

The day we was bbqing. You and I was sitting there and you said I want to talk. Well I wasn’t dating your daughter so I was like ok. Your word stuck in my head for ever. “YOU THINK DIEING IS HARD? It’s the easiest thing I  ever did. And didn’t know ya did it. ”  Those words has been stuck in my mind sense. I have told many ppl that story. When I herd you passed I laughed inside and said. “U didn’t even know ya did it again “. And ps I know how to pick a grill off the pit. Lol your a father I wish I had. But blessed I knew. 

My late wife Mary and myself were surprised while waiting to board our Alaska Cruise when this other couple came and sat down. I kept hearing someone calling Bo and finally I answered her. I said that sure was a coincidence that Bo and I shared a name. Then I said “Now you will tell me your name is Mary”, Mary Kaye said yep. 
With the miles between us now ,we still had the greatest , loving friendship.
Buddy Bo you will be missed. You and Mary Lou make sure there are at least 2 more places in Heaven.

I don't have any funny or episodic stories to tell about Bo, but I only want to express the trust that I had in him as we worked at the Ciba-Geigy St. Gabriel plant together. Many times in the 13 years we shared I would see Bo and have a chat, see his smile and hear his laugh. If there was any issue in the unit, we all knew Bo would work diligently to get it resolved. He was extremely trustworthy and certainly dependable.
I offer my sincere condolences to the family on the passing of this genuinely good man.

I will never forget our road trip to the College World Series in 1994.   A trip of a lifetime and memories for a lifetime. May all your hits be Grand Slams. Rest in Peace my friend. Don

This memory is shared by Bo’s great-nephew, Damon Perdue:
When they lived near mom and dad years ago he and Aunt Bob were at their house visiting. Damon was talking about the upcoming homecoming dance and the girl he really wanted to ask to go with him. He was scared, but dad encouraged him to call her. He told Damon that he’d never know what she would say if he didn’t ask. Damon worked up the nerve and called her. She turned him down. Just as he was telling dad about their phone conversation, the girl called him back and accepted his invitation to homecoming. He was always encouraging us to take chances.

This memory is shared by dad’s sister, Barbara Ann (“Bob”):
“Now these memories are going back over 70 years, okay. When Bo was about 3.5 years old, he, mom, and I went to a neighbors house to pick cotton for some extra money. After a while I was getting excited because I could tell by the weight of my sack that I’d picked so much cotton and we’d make good money. About that time Mom became frantic because she couldn’t find Bo. I turned around and realized Bo had curled up on my cotton sack and gone to sleep while I drug him along. Needless to say, he was always able to go to sleep anywhere.”
