

Ward Scott Webb, 53, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at 9:55PM at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital. He was born in Baton Rouge and was a resident of Gonzales. Ward was acting Colonel with 30 years of service for the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office. He received an Associate’s Degree from Columbia Southern University.
Employed with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office on July 1, 1988 until his death on March 27, 2018 achieving the rank of Colonel. He was a graduate of the 247th Session of the FBI National Academy.
Colonel Webb also achieved the rank of sergeant at Hunt Corrections, before coming to the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office where he began his career in the patrol division, worked as Detective in the Juvenile Division, DARE Officer, Sergeant in Patrol, Lt. in Patrol, Captain in the Training Division. He was later promoted to Major, Lt. Colonel and finally to Colonel with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Department. He also served as a representative for the Louisiana Sheriff’s Pension and Relief Fund Retirement system. He was selected as 2011 Knights of Columbus Deputy of the Year.
He was involved with many organizations during his career, the one most dear to his heart was the Special Olympics. He worked with Law Enforcement Torch Run, Polar Plunge, was awarded the Louisiana LETR Top Fundraiser Award in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, and was awarded the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Department Merit Award for his Meritorious service to the Law Enforcement Torch Run and Special Olympics. He also worked with the International Conferences for Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics, in 2017 inducted into the Richard Lamunyon Hall of Fame Special Olympics, Kookin for Kidz fundraiser, and the Dream Day Foundation, Boy Scouts of America and Leadership Ascension.
Ward is survived by his wife Nita Boudreaux Webb of Gonzales; 2 daughters, Jaci Frederic Marix of Gonzales and Julie Frederic Hitt and husband Scott of St. Amant; sister Wendy Webb Kling and husband Myron “Tut” Kling of Dutchtown; 2 brothers, F. Wayne Webb, Jr. of Gonzales and Gordon (Andy) Webb and wife Laryn Gray Webb of Prairieville. He is also survived by his 6 cherished grandchildren, Joey Hitt, Cheyenne Hitt, Clay Marix, Cale Marix, Braeson Hitt and Kylan Hitt; 6 godchildren, Jana Kling, Jas’ Duplessis, Teddy and Trey Webb, Dru Ann and Mia Scott Webb; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
Preceded in death by his parents, Fred W. Webb, Sr. and Sybil Echeverria Webb; grandparents, Gordon and Louise Webb, Sr. and Olive and Linton Phillips.
Visitation is scheduled on Friday, March 30, 2018 from 5PM – 9PM at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales and will resume at First Baptist Church, 1217 S. Burnside Ave, Gonzales on Saturday, March 31, 2018 from 8:30AM until the celebration of his life service at 11AM by Rev. Ken Spivey, Rev. Darryl Smith, Rev. Fernando Guiterrez and Rev. Mike Scott. Interment will follow at Hope Haven, Gonzales. Pallbearers will be Andy Webb, Tut Kling, Logan Webb, Paul Robert, Carl Dabadie, Rickie Boudreaux, David Boudreaux and Scott Hitt. Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Duplessis, Vance Venable, Dennis Brown, Tyra Bourgeois, Bridgett Landry Henderson, John Murphy, Andy Gremillion and the entire staff of the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office.
