Warren James Croom passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at the age of 96. He was a native of Elton, LA and a resident of Gonzales, LA. Warren was a Veteran of WWII and the Cold War, with service in the US Navy in the Pacific and Europe. He was a lifetime member of the disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of American Legion Post 81. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Warren graduated from Norfolk Division of the college of William and Mary and Mary and Virginia Polytech. He was a life member of the Old Dominion University Alumni Association and a life member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers. Warren was recognized as a Galvin Master in his role as Account Executive at Motorola. He was active in the AARP Tax Assistance Program for over 20 years and was licensed to represent taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service. He is survived by his beloved wife of 74 years, Lois Marie Allen Croom; daughter, Janet Nienhaus (Andrew); son, Warren J. Croom Jr. (Jim); grandchildren, Warren Croom III, Andrew Nienhaus II, Michael Nienhaus, Brendan Nienhaus, and Blythe Croom; and great grandchild, Griffin James Nienhaus. He is preceded in death by his parents, Norman Birmingham Croom Sr. and Aline Gilly Croom; brothers, Norman B. Croom Jr. and Kennedy L. Croom; sister, Winnifred Croom Dobard; and granddaughter, Ashley Croom. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held prior to mass from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Interment will take place at Serenity Oaks Memorial Park. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are: Andrew Nienhaus II, Michael Nienhaus, Brendan Nienhaus, Stephen Clark, Andrew Nienhaus, Sr., and Ralph Rogers.
