Charles Wayne Vick, age 73, passed away December 18 with his family at his side. He was born June 18, 1947, to William and Norma Vick. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Daniel Vick. He is survived by his wife Marsha of over 50 years, his daughter Amanda, sister Melanie Welborn, nieces and nephews. Wayne worked for the Nashville Fire Department from June 1969 until his retirement in June of 2004. Upon his retirement, he was Chief over the Fire Department Shop, where he oversaw keeping the equipment and Fire Halls in working order. He made many lifelong friends with his fellow firefighters. He had a great knowledge of fire fighting equipment and the history of the Nashville Fire Department. Car shows were another part of his life. He finally had his dream car, a 1966 Chevy Nova which was his pride and joy. Special thanks to the White House Cruisers Car Club for all the good times that were shared and friendships that were made. Big thanks to Tony Reasonor and to the great friends that he made at the Ridgetop Fire Department. Wayne enjoyed helping out with fundraisers at the Fire Department and sharing many, many stories with the guys. Tony, Dan Seeback, and McCaw Johnson were such a great help to the family as Wayne's health declined. Our hopes are that his many friends will continue retelling his stories and having a good laugh. The family has chosen to have a private service and burial due to Covid-19. The date for his Celebration of Life that he deserves will be announced when Covid is no longer a threat. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his honor to the American Heart Association, Alive Hospice, St. Judes, or your favorite charity.
