Dorothy Dean Fryer

Dorothy Dean Mims Fryer, born on Wednesday, July 25, 1934, in Eupora, Mississippi, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at the age of 91. She is preceded in death by her husband, James R. Fryer; parents, Louis Alexander Mims and Lola Delia McCain Mims; siblings, Mary Alice Jones, Louise Varvitsiotes, Eloise Holcomb, Henry Carpenter.

Dorothy was a resident of Hendersonville, Tennessee and retired after 30 plus years from Metro Schools in food service; a member of First Baptist Church Hendersonville. With her green thumb, she enjoyed her flower garden, African violets; and enjoyed cooking for the family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Marjorie K. Sims; son, James R. (Linda) Fryer, Jr.; grandchildren, Matthew (Morgan) Sims, Natalie (Todd) Gray, Victoria Fryer, Lauren Walker; great-grandchildren, Owen Sims, Alice Walker and Forrest Walker. siblings, William Carpenter, Evelyn Cobb, Barbara Davenport, Frank Caldwell, Jerry Caldwell, Ruth Whisenant.

Visitation will be held at Forest Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, located at 1150 South Dickerson Road, Goodlettsville, TN 37072, on February 18, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and one hour prior to the service.

A Celebration of Life will take place in the chapel at Forest Lawn Funeral Home on February 19, 2026, at 12:00 pm with Rev. Bruce Chesser and Tim Harris officiating.

Burial will follow in the Garden of Love at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
