Born in Pulaski, TN and raised in Nashville,TN, by Harvey & Jesse Rutherford who preceded him in death along with his only brother Joseph Rutherford.
Dad had a few jobs in his lifetime but his most memorable occupation was working for E.I. Dupont for over 34 years where he made so many life long friends.
Dad loved the game of bowling where he made more life long friends as well, especially his “brother from another mother” Paul Gado.
Dad coached the Junior High boys basketball team at Madison Church of Christ for nearly 30 years where he helped mold young men into now grown men.
Dad & Mom enjoyed camping after dads retirement in 1999 and made so many more friends along that journey. Especially J.D. and Joanna Miller.
Dad was never ashamed of his Faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents Harvey & Jesse Rutherford, his only brother Joseph Rutherford and his wife of nearly 55 years Dorothy Anne.
Doug is survived by 3 sons, 10 Grandkids, 22 Great Grand kids & 1 Great Great Granddaughter. Sons Harold Dean Marklin Jr (Debbie), David Rutherford (Tina) and Daniel Rutherford (Tina). Grandchildren Keri Hymer (Adam), Hannah Howell (James), Kayla Lind (Zak), Justin Anderson (Katie), Cody Anderson (Magan), Hannah Moss (Colt), Tiffany Stroud (Colin), Tabitha Watkins (J P Rudicil), Ashleigh Price (Brandi) & Austin Rutherford (Audrey).Great Grandchildren Connor Richards (London), Maddie Richards, Landon Swaffer,
Jayden Anderson, Emma Ragsdale, Addie Ragsdale, Noah Ragsdale, Gabby Anderson, Andi Anderson, Jessi Anderson, Kylie-Anna Hymer, Molly-Claire Hymer, Diana Howell, Jordan Howell, Waylon Lind, Mack Lind, Nora Stroud, Parker Stroud, Lucy Stroud, Ada Mae Moss, Tulsa Moss & Annie Rutherford due 5/2026. Great Great Granddaughter Vivian Richards.
Pallbearers will be Cody Anderson, Justin Anderson, Colt Moss, J.D. Miller, Zak Lind, James Howell, Adam Hymer, Austin Rutherford, Mike Luquer.
Honorary Pallbearers will include Paul Gado and all his Senior league bowling friends as well as all of dad's former DuPont co-workers.
The family would like to honor all of dads doctors and nurses who were by his bedside in his last few weeks of life. Especially his last nurse Keeley.
Final words from your family dad, you and momma did an outstanding job raising 3 boys who then in turn raised your 10 Grandkids who now have given you 22 Great Grandkids & 1 Great
Great Granddaughter.
Dad, go rest now in the arms of our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ…….
