A precious man who loved God, family, friends, his church, and his community well, Don Inman passed away on August 13, 2025.
Don was a 1955 graduate of Jo Byrns High School in Cedar Hill, TN, where he was affectionately known as the quietest boy in school. He dedicated over 50 years of his life as a mechanic and machine shop manager at Gardner’s Auto Parts on Trinity Lane. His work ethic and gentle spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
A devoted member of Madison Church of Christ, Don attended services faithfully every Sunday and volunteered five days a week at the church’s Benevolence Center, where he helped feed and clothe those in need. He cherished his church family, and the many friendships formed through his service.
After retiring, Don and his beloved wife Joan embraced life with joy and adventure. Together, they embarked on memorable camping trips with close friends, including a two-month road trip to Alaska and many journeys through the western states. They especially loved spending time at Cages Bend and Defeated Creek, surrounded by family and laughter. One of their most cherished family adventures was a trip to New York City and 14 states along the East Coast, creating unforgettable memories with their loved ones. Now reunited in eternity, their love continues to shine.
Don was also known for his love of games and a good-natured challenge. Weekends were filled with family rounds of Joker and Rummikub, and he played Spades regularly with friends at the East Nashville Community Center. Whether at home or with friends, Don brought a spirit of friendly competition and joy in winning that made every game memorable.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joan Inman; his parents, Wesley Thomas Inman and Flora Henderson Inman; and his sisters, Maxine Stroud, Emojean Crain, and Ann Tanner.
Don is survived by a family who loved and adored him: his children, Terri (George) Shaw and Keith Inman; his grandchildren, Hannah Shaw and Isaac (Naomi) Shaw; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements are being handled at Forest Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, where Don will be laid to rest beside his beloved Joan on Tuesday, August 19, 2025.
