Born on June 28, 1952, in Murphy, North Carolina, Jerry lived a life marked by deep faith, unwavering devotion to his family, and a passion for spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. His journey was one of purpose and conviction, rooted in his belief in the power of salvation and the importance of sharing that message with others.
Jerry was a man who never met a stranger. With the gift of gab and a heart full of compassion, he would speak to anyone about the love and grace found in Jesus Christ. His bold preaching reached far beyond the walls of any church—he delivered countless sermons through YouTube, using modern tools to share timeless truths. Yet above all else, Jerry’s greatest mission field was his own home. He was most concerned with ensuring that his family knew The Word of God and lived by it.
A gifted songwriter as well as a preacher, Jerry collaborated with his son Shane Gibson to write over 50 original songs dedicated to their Lord and Savior. These songs were not only expressions of worship but also reflections of Jerry’s deep personal relationship with Christ and his desire to inspire others through music.
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Teresa Gibson; daughters Destinee Crosby (Emory), with grandchildren Evelyn and Ruthie Crosby; Heather Janzen (Jake), with grandchildren Zedediah and Frankie Janzen; and son Shane Gibson (Caitlin). Each member of his family carries forward the legacy of faith and love that Jerry so passionately instilled.
He was preceded in death by his mother Frankie Fortenberry; guardians Paul and Lovelle Ownbey, brother Gene Gibson; and sister Francis Cook.
A burial service honoring Jerry’s life will be held at Larkspur Conservation.
Jerry Martin Gibson leaves behind a legacy built on faith, family, and an unshakable commitment to sharing the Gospel. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and inspiration to all who continue in the path he so fervently walked.
