

John E. Wilson - age 99 went to be with the Heavenly Father on Father’s Day Sunday June 17, 2012. He was born Sunday, February 23, 1913 in Robertson County, TN to the late Wade Hampton and Oda Mai Stroud Wilson. With his parents, Mr. Wilson is preceded in death by his first wife Loyce Dellinger Wilson and second wife Mary E. Wilson; sisters Grace Brooks, Lottie George Markel; brothers Hulan, Wade, Noel and Ernest Wilson; brother and sister-in-law Joe and Avis Tuggle.
A WWII Navy veteran, he attended Bible College in Chattanooga for a year; he was a barber at Genesco until his retirement, a member of Broadmoor Family Worship Center; and lifelong member of the Church of God. He served as song leader, sang bass in the quartet, taught children’s church, served as Sunday School Superintendant, he taught Sunday School for 30 years at Jordonia; he would pick up residents at the School for the Blind and take them to church.
He is survived by his daughter Marilyn Street and her husband Ken Street; son Glenn Wilson; grandson Jason Wilson; nieces, nephews and grandchildren of Aspen CO. The family extends a special thank you to caretakers, Stephanie Turner and Tangela Lawrence.
Funeral services will be 10:00 Thursday June 21, 2012 in the chapel at Forest Lawn, with Bro. Dan Walker officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be nephews Alan, Brandon, Phillip and Robert Wilson, Steve Setzer and Jimmy Daughtry.
Family and friends will gather to remember Mr. Wilson at a visitation Wednesday June 20, 2012 from 3:00 until 9:00 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home.
