Libby had a love of singing, especially in the car. She loved to sing along with the Judd's and others. She was an avid reader and had hundreds of books which normally ended up at one of the children or grandchildren’s homes. As kindhearted as she was, she loved murder mysteries the most and watched murder stories on TV all the time. We never understood that. Later in life she enjoyed completing jumbo “word search” puzzles. Between Kathy, Sonny, and I, I believe we bought everyone of those books we could find.
Her husband, Bruce had several hobbies throughout their lives. When he restored car’s, she always picked out her favorite and most likely it would have been a convertible. Which meant going to Dairy Queen on Sunday nights with the top down, her hair under a scarf and her children in back seat.
Next were the boats, which was her favorite Bruce Walden hobby. They spent every weekend at the lake on one of their boats with Peppy, their little yorkie furbaby. Then came the motorhomes. Ok, we all know that this hobby was not one of her favorites, but she loaded it up for every trip which really meant within 50-70 miles from home, and was spent with good friends, cooking out and lounging around an open fire. However, when she got to pick the location, we all know what that meant, casinos! They would take off and spend a few days, and a few dollars, at the local gambling locations. Jane and Ronnie would join them on a lot of those trips, which were their best friends. I always said that they were losing my inheritance, but they really never lost or won a huge amount, or so I was told.
Libby’s greatest love were her husband and her children. She was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as “Moma Libby” to her grandchildren, and then to so many others outside the family.
