Mattie Pearl Sneed Tucker

TUCKER, Mattie Pearl - Of Nashville. Passed away on Thursday, September 30, 2010. She was fondly known as "GRAMMY, gracefully went to Heaven to enjoy eternal life after valiently fighting a lengthly illness. Mattie was one of 10 children born to Van Otis Sneed and Zula Mai Stribbling Sneed on March 30, 1925. She was educated in the public school system in Nashville and developed an early interest in hair dressing. She later attended Tennessee State University where she graduated in 1956 with a degree in Home Economics. She taught school in Tiptonville, Tennessee for a number of years before moving back to Nashville to start her own business. In 1942 she was united in Holy Matrimony with John I. Tucker. To this union three children were born, John Jr., Gary and Lamont, all of whom survive to cherish her loving memory. She is also survived by brothers, Joseph Sneed (Ann) of Chicago, Illinois and Clarence Sneed of Nashville, Tennessee, along with a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren and friends. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at the Forest Lawn Chapel. Interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
