It has been six months since you left for home and I know you are still with me. Everyday I hold you in my heart and soul. I love you son and I am grateful for each day of the 31 years and 6 days I was privileged to be your mom.

Dear Cynthia..I just learned of Nathan's passing.  I wish I had been there for you as you have been for me.  My heart aches for your loss...no words can express how sorry I am.

Cindy and Joe, 

I never met Nathan personally but I have heard so many stories that I feel like I know him. The way he carried on with such an enthusiasm for life while in such pain is remarkable and so very inspirational to me. It speaks volumns of how great your parenting skills were. My heart goes out to you from one Mother to another. You will be in my prayers. He is at rest now and his legacy will live on through everyone he touched.

I never met Robert, but we both have been fighting the same fight - to survive Lyme Disease. It is so sad he lost his battle so young. Please know that Robert and the entire family is in my prayers.

When I first met Nathan, he was a teenager, and just getting started with sheep.  It wasn't long before we began talking about other subjects, and I realized he was a very bright kid.  We saw less of him once he went to college, but one day he appeared at the show I was running at the state fair.  We talked sheep, books, photography, and computers.  It was wonderful to see what a brilliant young fellow he had become.  The last time I spoke with Nathan was just a couple of months ago.  He was hardly able to gget up, but he was still a vibrant person, full of excitement and enthusiasm.  His medical challenges had inspired him to learn about biochemistry and genetics, and he clearly had continued studying related subjects, purely for the joy of learning.  We talked for over three hours and I marveled at Nathan.  There, in a situation that could so easily have depressed anyone, he was deeply alive and incandescent.

Dear Cynthia, I am so sorry for your lose. Nathan was a wonderful person and you are a wonderful mother that took such good care of him. You and Joe are in my thougts and prayers.

My brother Nathan: 
I loved you so much, possibly more than you ever knew. For a long time you were my buddy, my confidante, and my protector. You were my brother;  not by blood, but by spirit. God gave me a great gift when He brought you into my life, and I am so grateful for the time we got to spend together. You blessed me over and over through the years, with laughter and love, with new knowledge and experiences. You gave me so many memories that I cherish. You were my best friend, and though we were separated in the last few years, you were never far from my thoughts. You're not far from them now. It's one of my deepest regrets that I wasn't by your side in the end, that I wasn't there to hold your hand and give you strength. I wasn't there to hug you when you needed a hug, but I promise you, my brother, I will hug you first thing when we meet again—and we will meet again. I cannot wait to see your smile again. I miss you, and I'll love you always.

Cynthia, I just want you to know how very sorry we are for your loss and that Jerry and I share your sorrow and your pain. my heart goes out to you.

I know we hadn't know each other long Nathan but I want you to know that I will always cherish our conversations and our friendship. From the first time we talked I knew you were a special person, I could feel your light fill the room. You will be greatly missed and will always be in my thoughts and in my prayers. Dearest Nathan, I loved you from the first day I laid eyes on you.  You were the friend that my daughter needed and the friend that my daughter loved so much. I remember you walking into my house one evening for whatever special event you and Marcia had planned.  I looked at you and said, "Naw-thawn!" "your name in Hebrew means "to give" you are a giver."  You smiled at me and said Thank you but you didn't realize what a giver you already were.  You have touched my life in more ways than I can ever express because you touched my child's life with your friendship and love. I loved the time we spent together with you and Cynthia at Christmas when you helped with the manger scene with real live sheep. That was fun. I know that Your loving mother was your heart's love  and still is your heart's love. Even where you are you stand to honor your mother at the mention of her name. There is a pillar of strength in your mother's heart that now reaches all the way to glory to where you are. She now can feel heaven and know that heaven is a real place because you are there.  I feel you close to me and I know that where you are you are in a loving light filled place of joy and peace. I know that you are surrounded with love because Jesus Christ is love. I hear you loud and clear that you are loved and that you are not sick anymore. "Mother don't worry, I am happy and I'm not alone.
