

Ruth Cole, age 99, passed away Thursday, July 8,, 2021. Mrs. Cole was born Monday, July 3, 1922 in Portland, Tennessee and is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Asberry and Ada Maude Perdue Street; her husband, Robert Earl Cole; her daughters, Marilyn and Judy.
A graduate of Sumner County High Schools, Mrs. Cole became a "Rosie the Riveter" during WWII working on the firewalls of P47 Fighter Planes. She married Robert Cole on Christmas Eve 1949 and was married 62 years before his death. She was a member of Rivergate Church of Christ. Mrs. Cole worked for the Grand Ole Opry Tours and then went on to own her own Leisure Tours making 28 trips to Branson, Missouri; she and her husband visited all 50 states. A very independent person even into her 90s, she was driving, cutting grass and doing yard work.
Mrs. Cole is survived by her granddaughter, Brittany Williams, great-grandchildren, Cason Chapman, Matthew Williams and Hailey Williams.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted 12:00 Monday, July 12, 2021 in the chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home with burial following in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Family and friends will gather to remember Mrs. Cole at a visitation Monday, July 12, 2021 from 10:00 until the 12:00 service at Forest Lawn Funeral Home 1150 South Dickerson Pike Goodlettsville, Tennessee
