

He is survived by his daughters, Shelby Stewart and Brittany Stewart; his siblings, Phyllis Stewart Toth, Sheila Stewart Ottman (Fred), and Len Stewart (Gail); sister-in-law, Dale Stewart; mother of his children, Emily Kernell Hughes; grand-dogs that he would Facetime often, Banjo, Keiko, Layla, and Kane. He is also survived by numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins as well as other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Sam William Stewart and Leara Bell (Conner) Stewart; sister, Gail Elizabeth Stewart; brother, Bobby Stewart.
Wendell served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam conflict. He grew up in East Nashville and was a 1970 graduate of East High School. He was an avid hunter. He also can be remembered as a sports fan, with his favorite teams being, Vanderbilt, the Titans, Nashville Sound, Atlanta Braves, and the Predators. He loved anything to do with NASCAR. He was a faithful member of the Edgefield Baptist Church. He cherished his family, but above all, he loved the Lord.
A visitation for Samuel will be held Thursday, March 3, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 1150 South Dickerson Road, Goodlettsville, TN 37072, followed by a celebration of life service at 6:00 PM.
Interment will be private at the Middle Tennessee States Veteran's Cemetery in Pegram.
