I have known Alberto for almost 20 years.  He and I have both been assistant store leaders for our company.

Alberto is 6 years younger than me so it hits me hard and makes me reflect on my own life. 

Today Alberto leaves behind a legacy.  A legacy of hard work and dedication.  A legacy of always doing the right thing even when no one is looking.  A legacy of caring more about your associates than yourself.   A legacy of going above and beyond for customers as well.  People like Alberto don’t come along very often any more.  Alberto, like others, always never seemed to get the credit or accolades he deserved.  Others often climbed past him on the ladder of success and used him as a rung.  Alberto, like others, aren’t happy when this happens, but Alberto never let it affect his performance. When they wanted someone to fix a store, Alberto was often the one picked to support someone else less experienced.   

Today Alberto reminds us that life isn’t fair.  If morality were rewarded with longer life Alberto would have outlived most.  If promotions were based on work ethic Alberto would have been an executive.

Today i want to honor Alberto.

Today I want to thank Alberto for being the great person you are.  You always took time for me even when you were busy.  You were my go to when I had a question or problem I needed advice on.

Today I know Alberto is in heaven.  I hope he finally gets the rewards he deserves.

Alberto was my best friend and like an older brother to me. We had some crazy times together and he taught me so much about the grocery business.  He will be missed by many and no one will fill the void that has been left in my heart. The stories and memories will keep Alberto alive in my head. My deepest condolences to Monica and his entire family!  He will not be forgotten!
