

Daniel T. Pena of Phoenix, Arizona passed away August 6, 2024 in Sun City, Arizona at the age of 73. He was born November 24, 1950 in Kingsville, Texas to Melquiades "Mel" and Frances Pena both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother Martin Pena. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Kathryn Pena, daughter Tiffany Pena, sons Geoffrey and Matthew Pena, brother Xavier Pena, sisters Edna Pena and Lamar Garcia, and daughter-in-law Joanna Angel. He is also survived by his four grandchildren: Reese, Paige, Luna and Autumn and two "granddogs" Fee and Raven.
Danny spent his early years in Kingsville, Texas. He lived there surrounded by his loving parents, grandparents, cousins, and family. When he was 10 years old, his family moved to San Antonio, Texas.
He went to McCollum High School where he met the love of his life, Kathryn. They went on to marry on May 23, 1971. After graduating from high school in 1970, Danny joined the United States Air Force.
While in the Air Force, he worked as a Jet Engine Mechanic and was stationed at several Air Force Bases including Hamilton AFB in California, Thailand, Carswell AFB in Texas, and Webb AFB in Texas. He then went on to cross-train in Military Communications in 1977 was stationed at Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage, Alaska. He retired at Luke AFB in Arizona. After his retirement, he was employed by Honeywell as a Jet Engine Mechanic.
Danny was a loving husband and father. His family was his proudest accomplishment. He always made sure his children learned and knew their extended family. He travelled to visit them as often as he could. Family was his number one top priority.
Danny had many interests to occupy his free time. He umpired and also coached his children's baseball teams. He enjoyed spending time outside hiking, riding his bike, hunting, fishing, barbecuing, and even panned for gold. He was also a member of a car club and loved his Corvette and his dogs. He was an avid reader who devoured books by James Patterson. His guilty pleasure was What-A-Burger and he also enjoyed fresh tamales.
Danny loved being a grandpa. His grandchildren were so very special to him. He loved to spend time with them, they always brought a smile to his face. He loved to get them smiling at his "stupid dad jokes." He was extremely proud of the adults his children had become. They were good citizens, responsible, caring adults and parents with kind hearts.
Danny's love and compassion will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Services will be held in Houston, Texas at a later date.
