Eric Patterson, 55, of Goodyear, Arizona, left us too soon on March 23, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of strength, love, and a few heavyweights no one else could lift. Born on a military base in Tokyo, Japan, on May 16, 1969, he entered this world as an American citizen and left it as a legend in the strongman community, a devoted father, and a proud veteran of the Marine Corp.
Eric lived life with the intensity of a world-record deadlift. Whether it was in the gym, on the road as a truck driver for 27 years as a proud Teamster, or serving his country in the Marine Corps, he gave everything he had. Retirement didn’t slow him down—he kept on trucking, literally, working for a broadcasting company while still training, competing, and inspiring others.
A fierce competitor, Eric’s list of achievements in bodybuilding, powerlifting, and strongman competitions could fill a book—state and national records, pro qualifications, and more trophies than his shelves could hold. But to those who knew him, his biggest strength wasn’t just physical—it was his heart. He was a loyal friend, a mentor, and a guy who could bench press a car but would just as easily give you the shirt off his back.
When he wasn’t lifting or driving, Eric found his true freedom on two wheels. He had a deep love for his Harley-Davidsons, and riding was more than just a hobby—it was a way of life. Whether cruising down an open highway or roaring through town, he felt at home on his bike, surrounded by the rumble of the engine and the open road ahead. The same passion and intensity he put into lifting, he poured into riding, always embracing the thrill of the ride with the same fearless energy that defined him.
Eric was the proud father of three: Braxton Patterson, Lex Proudfit, and Eric Logan Maximus Patterson. He was also a loving partner to Diane Villa, and if you ever met him, you knew how much he loved his family. He adored being a grandfather to four grandkids, and they’ll grow up hearing stories about the larger-than-life man who never backed down from a challenge.
Though he is no longer physically with us, his spirit lives on in every heavy lift, every challenge faced with courage, and every ride down the highway.
Semper Fi, Eric. May the road be endless, the wind at your back, and the roar of the engine never fade.
