Ms. Gayle S. Ferrell was called home to join the Lord on March 18th, 2025, in Litchfield Park, Arizona. She was born to Mr. Floyd and Leota Shultz on August 2nd, 1946, in Wichita, Kansas. Gayle however, spent the majority of her formative years in Texas where she attended university in Denton. She earned her master’s degree in mathematics and went on to work as a computer programmer, teacher, and worked at Wake County Schools for some time. Not long after, she met Charles W. Ferrell and the two were wed. The pair raised two children, a daughter Pamela Lee and a son, Michael Edward. Much later, Gayle and family relocated to Phoenix, Arizona and by 2003, Gayle was retired.
During her retirement, Gayle treasured her role as a grandmother and spent much of her time with her 4 grandchildren and great grandchild- they would spend their days watching cartoons and listening to dance music together. Gayle also enjoyed travel and would frequently make trips up North and to California when she was able. Ever a woman of faith, she was a member of the Way of Grace Church and had a deep love of Christ. While Gayle was an incredible mathematician and an avid reader, those who knew her best, knew of her love and devotion to Christ.
Gayle was a beloved mother, Nana, and friend. She had a stubborn, yet joyful personality, and a spirit that will be deeply missed by family and friends alike. Though we know that Gayle is no longer with us, her memory will forever live on in our hearts.
She is survived by her daughter Pamela Turner, her four grandchildren Philip John Unfricht, Cody Wayne Turner, Justin Charles Blake Turner, and Alexander Eugene Turner, as well as her great grandchild G.G.G. Grayson Wayne Turner. She was preceded in passing by her son Michael Edward Ferrell.
A memorial will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Sunday April 13th, 2025, at Imagine Schools at Buckeye located at 2400 247th Avenue, Buckeye, AZ 85326. All are welcome to attend.
