Leon de la Rosa, a cherished and humorous soul, passed away on December 28, 2025, at the age of 85, a day that also marked his and his beloved wife Marina De La Rosa’s 57th wedding anniversary. Born on June 18, 1940, in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, Leon moved to San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 15, where he attended high school. As a young man, he spent a brief period in Chicago, Illinois, before settling in Arizona in 1968.
Leon dedicated his career to working as a Union Sheet Metal Worker. He was a devoted family man who loved his children and believed in being a provider. He encouraged and funded his children's higher education, ensuring that each of them received a college education. His belief in his children's potential was unwavering. Leon's love extended deeply to his grandchildren, and he was a very proud grandfather.
Known for his love of grocery runs to Sprouts and his talent for making others laugh, Leon was a jokester at heart. He was well-known in his neighborhood as the guy who could fix anything. Leon loved to have a good time and was very aware of his surroundings, believing in diligently staying alert.
Leon is survived by his beloved wife, Marina De La Rosa; his sons, Leon Covarrubias-De La Rosa and Cesar De La Rosa; his daughter, Patricia Navarro; and his grandchildren, Jonathan Navarro, Nathan Navarro, Elikhai De La Rosa, Jairus De La Rosa, and Nicodemas De La Rosa. He is also survived by his brother, Luis De La Rosa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Angel De La Rosa and Beatriz Garcia.
Leon de la Rosa will be remembered for his humor, his dedication to his family, and his ability to bring joy to those around him. His legacy of love and laughter will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
