Wallace Owen Simonson, 94, of Goodyear went home to be with Jesus on April 22, 2024. He was born on November 19, 1929 in Fillmore, ND. He was the seventh of eight children. His parents, Albert and Helen Simonson, moved the family to the farming community of Faribault, MN when he was seven years old. Wally went to Business school in Minneapolis after graduation from high school. He then attended The Church of the Lutheran Brethren Bible School for one semester before he was called by Uncle Sam to serve two years in the army in Korea. He met his wife, Delvina Finley, and they married in 1955. They had four children, Daniel, Steven, Nancy, and Kevin. Wally worked for International Milling as an accountant, and then as an accountant for Prestige Lincoln Mercury in Minneapolis. In 1969, he moved his family to Tempe, AZ where he worked for U-Haul and then Arizona Public Service as an accountant. Through the years, he enjoyed bowling leagues and golfing. Wally and Delvina enjoyed traveling to Germany, Norway, Australia, Great Britain, Hawaii, and Alaska. After retirement, he and Delvina traveled fulltime in a motorhome all over the USA for twenty years. Wally was treasurer at the Lutheran Brethren churches the family attended, faithfully loving and serving the Lord Jesus through the years. His parents, and six siblings, Morris, Mable, Delores, Vernon, Lorraine, and Kenneth predeceased him. Wally is survived by his wife of almost 69 Years, Delvina; his children, Daniel (Melinda), Steven (Monica), Nancy (Larry) Hampton, and Kevin; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and his brother Carlyle (Barbara). Services will begin at 9am, May 17 at Thompson Funeral Chapel, located at 926 S Litchfield Rd, Goodyear, AZ. A graveside service will follow at 1pm at the National Memorial Cemetery, 23029 N Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix, AZ.
