Anna was born on July 21, 1927, in Pontiac, Michigan. She was the eldest daughter of the late Cyril and Marie Utter. She was born and raised in Pontiac, Michigan until meeting her beloved husband, Major Russell E. Selby, in 1944. During Russell's career in the US Airforce, Anna, Russell and their four children lived in the United States and Germany. While stationed in Germany, Anna and Russell traveled throughout Europe. In the final years of Russell's military career, the Selby family resided in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Upon retirement, Anna and Russell moved to East Orlando, Florida, eventually settling on Lake Pickett, where she continued to reside until her passing. Anna passed away peacefully on May 2, 2022, in the care of Cornerstone Hospice.
Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Russell; brothers, Douglas and Larry Utter; her sister, Shirley Combs; and her great granddaughter, Elizabeth Madorma. Anna is survived by her sister, Joann Stephenson of Michigan; her four children, Eddie (Carol) Selby of Florida, Linda (Karl) Birch of Florida, Russanne (Gino) Castagnoli of Oklahoma, and Patty (Tom) Przonek of North Carolina; her eight grandchildren: Annette (Gregory) Root, Nicole Schadow, Danielle (Alan) Marshall, Shane (Tammy) Selby, Troy Selby, Barbara (Chris) Madorma, Bonnie (Charlie) Herbough, and Annie (Andrew) Perkins; seventeen great grandchildren: Kyle, Austin, Heather, Andrew, Collin, Abby, Tori, Megan, Katherine, Mersades, Joshua, David, Garrett, Carly, Claira, Chloe, Isaac; and two great, great grandsons, Colton and Kaden.
Anna enjoyed spending time with family, dining with her "out to lunch bunch", sewing with friends, traveling, bowling, reading, scrapbooking, and fishing on her lake. However, Anna will always be remembered for being the no fuss, down-to-earth matriarch of her large family; her quilting and sewing abilities; love of flowers; and, her amazing singing voice.
Anna will be laid to rest beside her husband in Woodlawn Memorial Park on Sunday, May 8, 2022, at 11:00a.m. in Gotha, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her name to Cornerstone Hospice.
