

Barbara Anne Gay Cannon, aged 81, passed away peacefully at her home in Orlando, Florida on August 19, 2024. Born on November 25, 1942, in Hagerstown, Maryland, Barbara was the cherished only child of Anna B. Gay, a school teacher, and James Lewis Gay, a salesman for Blue Goose Produce.
Barbara attended Pahokee High School until 1960 and graduated from Boone High School in 1961. She furthered her education at Jones Business College in Orlando. Barbara dedicated 42 years of her career to an Electrical Insulation Supplier (EIS), starting in 1965 and retiring in 2007 to care for her aging mother.
A true Floridian after her birth. Barbara loved the beach, collecting seashells and beach glass. She was an avid boater, loved fishing, and enjoyed playing board games, working on crossword puzzles, and playing bridge with her friends. She was especially fond of attending her son-in-law's doo-wop oldies shows, which brought back fond memories of her childhood.
Barbara was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Orlando, where she engaged deeply with her community. Her faith and her church were significant parts of her life.
Barbara's family was her world. She is survived by her daughter, Lori Cannon Hengber & Son-in-law Peter Joseph Hengber; granddaughter, Ana Sheree Duncan; great-grandchildren, Xavier, Elijah, Andres, and soon-to-be-born twins, Liam & Lukas. She also leaves behind step-grandchildren Christina, Peter, Jennifer, and Chris, along with eight step-great-grandchildren and seven cousins. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Anna and James Gay; her aunts and uncles, Frances and Arthur Bayer, Edwin and Helen Barkdoll, Eugene and Marie Barkdoll; her true love, Charles W. Cannon; and stepdaughters, Linda Dauphin and Kimberly Felty.
Visitation for Barbara will be held on Sunday, September 1, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Woodlawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL 34734. This will be followed by a funeral service from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM and a committal service from 4:00 PM to 4:30 PM at the same location. WoodLawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Barbara Anne Gay Cannon was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, remembered for her kindness, generosity, and the special bond she shared with her family. Her legacy of love and dedication will be cherished and remembered by all who knew her.
