

Betty Jo "BJ" Mitchell, 90, of Apopka, Florida passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2014. She was born February 8, 1924 in Latrobe, Pennsylvania to her late parents, Charles and Rebecca (Donahey) Frable. She graduated high school in Latrobe, and went on to marry her late husband, Leo A. Mitchell, on June 11, 1934. After moving to Florida, BJ established a presence in her Union Park community as the owner of Bett's Pink Poodle, a dog grooming establishment where she worked heartily as long as she was able. She became a member of Zellwood United Methodist Church and volunteered her time regularly with the Zellwood Community Center. In her free time, BJ could be found quilting, crocheting, or trying to edge out her competitors in darts, pool or bingo.
BJ is survived by her 2 daughters, Rebecca "Becky" M. Collier (Dave) and Leah J. Blanchard (Bill); 5 grandchildren, David L. Collier (Annapolis, MD), James W. Pratt, Rebecca (Beth) Collier, Allison Collier (Harvey) and Laura J. Bogle; 9 great grandchildren, David L. Collier III (Greenbelt, MD), Maribeth Foelber (Rockville, MD), Ashley E. Holmes, Brian A. Holmes, Jack R. Collier (Annapolis, MD), Shelby L. Collier, Bryce M. Harvey, Mia Collier (Annapolis, MD) and Evan J. Bogle; and, 3 great-great grandchildren, Maxwell A. Foelber (Rockwell, MD), Caden B. Holmes and Aria K. Foelber (Rockville, MD).
