

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Celys Anganee Bijulisingh, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, teacher, and friend. She passed away peacefully on December 20, 2024, in Orlando, Florida, surrounded by family.
Celys was born on July 31, 1942, in Skeldon, Guyana, to the late Joseph and Lydia Sancharia Gajadhar. She married Rudolph Byron “Bobby” Bijulisingh on December 16, 1961 and together, they brought five beautiful children into the world: Donna, Karen, Claire, Kerine, and Byron.
Celys graduated from Cyril Potter’s Teacher’s Training College in Georgetown, Guyana and later taught at several schools over the years including Cummings Lodge Secondary School, Skeldon Scott’s School and Skeldon Anglican School where she influenced the lives of countless students and was affectionately known as “Teacher Celys.”
In the 1980s, Celys and her family immigrated to the United States. During her early years in Queens, New York, she worked for several corporations including Fugazy Limousine Services and Roche Biomedical Laboratories. She was an entrepreneur at heart and showcased it by investing in rental real estate and by forming her own Limousine company which she named after her beloved deceased son Byron.
She later moved to Kissimmee, Florida in the mid-90s and worked at West Gate Lakes Resort’s as a customer service manager -- where her young coworkers lovingly called her the OG ( “original grandma”).
Celys was a devoted matriarch who cherished her family, her love for which was captured during countless holidays where she meticulously prepared her signature annual Christmas black cake and her coconut macaroons.
She was an avid reader who enjoyed daily devotionals and inspirational books by authors like Napolean Hill and Wayne Dyer and was also a news buff who prioritized staying informed about the world around her. She was always up to date on current affairs, national politics and even stock market trends.
She enjoyed shopping and traveling when the opportunity arose, especially cherishing her time exploring markets in Chinatown NYC, Panama and Atlanta, GA.
Celys was a devout Christian and active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Kissimmee, where she found solace and community. She loved reading her Bible, listening to and singing her hymns, and spending quiet mornings with her devotionals. Her faith was the foundation of her life and inspired all who knew her.
She was predeceased by her husband, Rudolph; her son, Byron; her son-in-law, Rayman; and her siblings Sonny, Feddie, Ellen “Deedee,” Daniel, Alice, and Steve.
She is survived by her children Donna (Sam), Karen (Jeff), Claire (Insaf) and Kerine (Ron); her siblings Alvin and David; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members and dear friends..
Her grandchildren include Natasha, Kevin, Stefanie, Caressa, Shane, Travis, Rachel, Max, Aliza, and Luke. Her great grandchildren include Asaiah (son of Caressa), Korey (son of Kevin), and Nadia (daughter of Natasha).
Celys lived a full, meaningful life and leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, kindness generosity and forgiveness. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
