Cheri Jo “CJ” Harris

Born in Moline, Illinois, on July 17, 1941, Cheri Jo graduated from Ottumwa High School in Iowa. Over the course of her life, she held a wide variety of roles, working as a real estate associate, commercial artist, physician’s office manager, and automobile accounts receivable clerk at Dave and CJ’s dealership in Nashville, TN.

Cheri Jo married the love of her life, David Harris, on July 11, 1985, and together they shared a life filled with love, friendship, and laughter.

A gifted leader and passionate community member, Cheri Jo served as president of both the Austin Country Club and the Austin Symphony Orchestra in Austin, Minnesota. She was also a proud member of the Northwestern Singers and served on the Austin Public Schools Board. A talented golfer, she was honored to be named the 1999 Ladies Club Champion of the Governor’s Club in Brentwood, Tennessee. Cheri Jo was also a member of Bay Hill Country Club in Orlando.

Cheri Jo had a deep love for playing bridge, golf, plants, her beloved dog Moses, and sharing cocktail hour with Dave and their friends. More than anything, she treasured time spent with her grandchildren, whose lives she touched with her warmth, wit, and unwavering love.

She is survived by her devoted husband, David Harris of Orlando, FL; her daughters Gina Ticehurst (Gregg) of Orlando and Meg McDaniels (Chris) of Wake Forest, NC; and her grandchildren Christina Meyers (Matt), Andrew, Emily, Claire, and Lucy McDaniels, Adam, Carter, and Blake Ticehurst and her great grandchildren, Penelope, Theodore and Matilda Meyers.

Cheri Jo was preceded in death by her sons William Flemming and Robert Bonella; her brother Jerry Swanson; and her parents, Lois Swanson and Arnold Rothlauf.

Cheri Jo will be deeply missed by her family and friends, who will remember her for her strength, elegance, humor, and generous heart.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, October 19, 2025, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Gotha, Florida. Funeral services will follow on Monday, October 20, 2025, at 1:30 PM at the same location.
